Night Flight

No, the site is not going dark --- although, as many of you may have noticed, the Forum has been more or less inaccessible (via the normal route) since August 10. It took a long time to trace the problem, but we now know it is not that "Tripod has a bug, or a glitch, or a gremlin... or just an error of some kind." Rather, it appears that a spammer corrupted the site's cgi script, the code that allows normal access to the message board.

I am alas unschooled in the art of writing program code, and so am unable to fix the problem. If anyone has suggestions or can offer help with this issue, please contact me at Sherlock1889@gmail.com.

IN THE MEANTIME, the good news is that there exists a backdoor to get into the Forum. CLICK HERE TO VISIT THE FORUM. This takes you to the Search page. Once there, members may LOG IN and guests may REGISTER as members if they choose. Once logged in or registered, click "New Postings" and proceed as set forth above to access all Forum content, or you can limit your search by setting limiting parameters. To LOG OUT, you must be on a page that shows the full text of a message, not a page with one-line summaries.

It looks like Night Flight might be back on the air. The message below was posted to the NightFlightX Yahoo group on Tuesday, Oct 9, 2007 at 1:42 AM.

In the interest of full disclosure, I have to say we do not have confirmation of this news yet, but Alex says this is legitimate and it appears to have come from a valid source.

"Welcome to Night Flight." With those words Pat Prescott would start off each show, a visual cornucopia of music, shorts, videos, movies and more. 8 hours of alternative television every Friday and Saturday night on USA network.

Night Flight was one of the first music videos shows on TV and the only one to be on the cutting edge showing videos nobody else would show. The show is long gone but people are constantly finding old tapes and converting them to DVD to keep the show alive. This site is dedicated to the treasure that was Night Flight.

Finally, there is a place on the Internet for Night Flight fans to gather, swap videos and share information. Hang out with us on the Night Flight message board to discuss all things related to Night Flight.

I'm retiring from the Night Flight website bussiness as there is not much money in it. In fact there is no money in it at all. :) So log in to the forum and find out how you can run this place. I'm certain you will do better than what I was doing.

Ads, Ads And More Ads + Site Update

For the first few years there were no advertisements anywhere on this site. Well, those days are gone now with the demise of the last ad free site. So to try and help our guests I suggest you grab a "hosts" file from MVPS.org to help slow down the ad problem. Unfortunately I was in the middle of updating this site (yeah, I know I said I wasn't going to but Scary Steve keeps posting these great YouTube links). All the broken links are fixed, most of the pages have YouTube links, added a couple more pages and a new alternate site at Netfirms, blah, blah, blah.

I started this site for fun. Well, after about 5 months it stopped being fun. So the website has not been updated in several years. So today I decided I should fix some of the broken links (not all of them, just some of them). This will probably be the last update for the foreseeable future.

Major Site Update

We've just completed a major update to the web site and added a whole bunch of new pages, added images to the movies and shorts pages, rearranged a bunch of stuff and added a "segments" section. We still have a long way to go but we're getting closer every day. We've also overloaded our 3 free providers so we are adding a 4th but they are having problems right now so that may take a while.

Split The Web Site

I guess you get what you pay for and since I didn't pay anything I don't get much. Apparently our little site here has overwhelmed our free host, so we are splitting the site up and sharing it between 2 different free hosts. You, the viewer, should not notice any difference. Everything should work the same, but if for some reason you can't get to some of the pages then that means one of the sites is down.

I guess this is the second Night Flight site on the Internet and the only one dedicated exclusively to Night Flight. The first is at Scourge Productions. You would think there would be more sites since the show was so well loved but that's not the case at this time.
